     Schedule an appointment on Clic santé 

    Blood tests and other samples are by appointment only.

    On Clic Santé, select Specimens and/or Blood test, then enter your postal code and click on Free service. In the Establishment section, choose Public to access the list of establishment in the public health network.

    If you experience difficulties with Clic Santé, you can call 1-833-991-2662, Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., except on statutory holidays.

    Time slots are released regularly. Visit Clic Santé for last-minute appointment openings available the same day or the next.


    Attention

    • Some tests need to be done at Cité-de-la-Santé Hospital. For appointments related to specific tests, please refer to the tab Specific tests at the bottom of this page.

    • For container drop-off and deposit sample WITHOUT blood draw, consult the tab Specimen container distribution and return at the bottom of this page.
    • Individuals with two separate requests (a sampling test and a screening test) must first complete the Ouvre un lien interne dans la fenêtre courantescreening test and wait for the results before proceeding with blood tests. If there is only one request, or if the doctor has requested that both tests be done at the same time, individuals must book an appointment by calling 1-833-991-2662.

    Preparing for your appointment

    Before going to a test centre, don’t forget to:

    • Bring your Health Insurance Card.
    • Read over your sample collection form request for any special instructions.
    • Follow the instructions, if any (don't eat or drink, no alcohol, etc.).
    • Bring the sample collection form request that your doctor gave you.


    NOTE : Only paper requests will be processed. 

    In order to proceed with the test, your doctor must complete the Identification du prescripteur section and if applicable, the Renseignements cliniques section of the sample collection form.

    Women who are going to deliver at Hôpital de la Cité-de-la-Santé must contact the call center at 1 833 991-2662 to make an appointment.

    • For screening tests at 10 to 13.6 weeks of pregnancy and for the 1-hour 50-g glucose screening test (to check for gestational diabetes) at 26 weeks, you will need an appointment. 
    • The test for the Trisomy 21 Prenatal Screening Program of Québec is usually done at the same time as your 10 to 13.6 week screening test. 
    • If your doctor asks you to do the 2-hour 75-g glucose tolerance test, please contact the call center. You can’t eat or drink for 8 hours before this test. 
    • The appointment for the Anti-D vaccine will be given during your blood test in the 26th week of pregnancy. 

    Duration of the test:

    • For the 50 g test, duration is 1 hour.
    • For the 75 g test, duration is 2 hours.
    • Glucose 2 hours PC.

    Don’t take your medication the morning of your blood test, unless your doctor indicates otherwise.

    At home sample collection is only for people with severely limited mobility. With a referral only.

    If you need containers and a blood test, the containers will be given to you at the time of your blood draw.

    For a container or a urine test or stool culture (without a blood test), you do not need to book an appointment. Simply go to one of our sample collection centers during opening hours. We recommend coming before 11:30 a.m. to pick up the containers, receive instructions, or return your specimens (samples).

    Note that test centres do not provide results. You will get your test results from your doctor.
