Services
Rehabilitation services are offered on an ambulatory basis to children presenting with a significant and persistent language disorder limiting life habits. These services aim to have the child carry out functional daily activities by promoting the development of communication skills and facilitating adaptation to his/her environment.
Clients
- Preschool Program: Children must be aged between 2 and 5 years old with normal hearing and have persistent and significant difficulties executing life habits. The following language disorders are admissible:
- Primary language disorder or hypothesis of, or be at risk of, presenting with a primary language disorder and specific language impairment, or hypothesis of, or to be at risk of, presenting with a specific language impairment;
- Childhood apraxia of speech or hypothesis of, or to be at risk of, presenting with childhood apraxia of speech
- School-aged program: Children must be aged between 5 and 7 years old with normal hearing who are enrolled in regular kindergarten or the first grade. The following language disorders are admissible:
- Primary language disorder or specific language impairment affecting phonology and/or morphosyntaxe with a receptive sphere within the range of moderately impaired to normal;
- Severe childhood apraxia of speech with a receptive sphere within the range of moderately impaired to normal;
- Stuttering program: Children must be aged between 3 and 17 years old with a speech diagnosis of stuttering or cluttering, persisting for more than 6 months and having potential for improvement;
Location of services
The services are provided at the JRH of the CISSS of Laval. Consultations may also take place at school, daycare or at home as required.
