PRENATAL INFORMATION SERVICE OFFER (PRENATAL COURSES)


INFORMATION PARTS

In normal situations, three components are offered free of charge to future Laval parents. This information is for reference only. Please refer to the temporary measures mentioned at the beginning of the page which are in effect.

WHEN:

  • From the beginning of pregnancy.

TOPICS:

  • Healthy lifestyle.
  • Nutritional needs of fetus and mother during pregnancy.

FORMAT:

A session led by a nurse and a nutritionist:

  • 1 session on the 3rd Wednesday of the month (except in July) from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

When:

  • Around the 33rd week of pregnancy.

TOPICS:

  • Early signs of labour
  • Explanation of terms
  • False labour versus active labour
  • Stages of labour and delivery
  • Pain management:
    • with medication
    • without medication

  • Medical treatments during labour and delivery
  • Cesarean/VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean)
  • Adapting to parenting

FORMAT:

A session led by a nurse:

  • 1 intensive session on a Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

OR

  • 3 sessions on a Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

When:

  • Around the 36th week of pregnancy.

TOPICS:

  • History of breastfeeding
  • Getting ready for breastfeeding
  • Breastfeeding success factors
  • Anatomy and physiology of breastfeeding
  • Breastfeeding and lifestyle
  • Tips: breastfeeding positions

FORMAT:

This workshop is run by a nurse and a Nourri-Source support mother:

  • 1 session on the first Thursday of the month from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Or

  • 1 session on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
